Remember the infamous dress-gate that left the internet divided? Half of us saw the colour of the dress as black and blue, and the other half was seeing it as white and gold! Yeah, that irritating thing that made you wonder if your friends are backstabbing, gaslighting liars. Because you clearly saw the dress as blue and black and they kept insisting it was white and gold! Well, congratulations for living long enough to see an even more irritating version of the trend go viral on Twitter. The latest one will make you question your ability to hear. Yanny or Laurel? Though origins of this viral audio are unknown at the moment, but a Twitter user by the name Cloe Feldman uploaded an audio clip on the micro-blogging site asking her followers if what they heard was Yanny or Laurel. And, it is the dress-gate all over again.

After thousands of tweets started coming in, with users picking their teams, the viral trend reached Hollywood A-listers. For instance, Chrissy Teigen, on her Twitter, shared, “it’s so clearly laurel. I can’t even figure out how one would hear yanny.” After reading the tweet Mindy Kaling felt betrayed because she could only hear Yanny and retaliated, “I bought your cookbook. I loved it. And now you betray me? #yanny”. Chrissy was able to contain the situation by putting a lovely twist to it, “They’re saying younger, more beautiful people hear yanny!!!!!” How sweet!

Then the daytime talk show queen Ellen DeGeneres informed the world about her allegiance. She said, “Literally everything at my show just stopped to see if people hear Laurel or Yanny. I hear Laurel.”
