MCU’s 20th film Ant-Man and the Wasp opened in theatres on Friday. Well, out of the three MCU movies released this year, the Ant-Man sequel has been the most underperforming at the box office on opening day. The movie featuring Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly has only managed to earn Rs 5.5 crore nett (Rs 7.05 crore gross). Avengers: Infinity War had earned Rs 31.3 crore on day 1, while Black Panther minted Rs 5.60 crore upon its release. The difference between Black Panther and Ant-Man and The Wasp is not much though. You can expect the latest release to gain momentum over the weekend as Marvel fans will flock to the theatres to watch the movie.
In our review, we mentioned “Ant-Man and the Wasp is an enjoyable experience. Do watch it for the thrilling action, shrinking gags and the brilliant humour.” (ALSO READ: Ant-Man and The Wasp movie review: Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly’s superhero adventure is big on entertainment)
Ant-Man and the Wasp released in India a week after its international release. The movie opened to a great response at the North American box office on July 6. The superhero film minted $ 76 million in its opening weekend, which is great compared to its previous instalment, which had collected $ 57 million at the ticket windows. It had beaten films like Incredibles 2 and Jurassic World: The Fallen Kingdom to grab the numero uno position at the box office.
The only movie competing Ant-Man and the Wasp is Diljit Dosanjh’s Soorma. The superhero flick was able to beat the sports drama in India. Soorma has collected Rs 3.35 on its opening day. But the word of the mouth for this movie is really good as well and it might also gain momentum over the weekend.
