After Padmaavat and Baaghi 2, Alia Bhatt’s Raazi becomes 5th highest opening week grosser of 2018

Alia Bhatt’s Raazi has ended its opening week on a glorious note at the box office. The spy-thriller raked in Rs 56.59 crore in seven days and with this business, it has turned out to be the fifth highest opening week grosser of the year. The film has beaten the first week collections of Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, which had collected over Rs 100 crore at the box office. Interestingly, the film has already surpassed the lifetime collections of films like October and Hichki.

The second weekend will be very crucial for the film as it will give us the clear idea about its lifetime business at the ticket windows. Since Deadpool 2 has released today, Raazi has faced a huge screen crunch at the box office. It’ll be interesting to see how Raazi performs as Deadpool also caters to youth and multiplex audience just like the Alia Bhatt starrer. Apart from Meghna Gulzar’s gripping narrative and direction, the audience have also praised the performances of Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal. Based on Harinder Sikka’s novel Calling Sehmat, the film also stars Shishir Sharma, Soni Razdan, Rajit Kapoor, Jaideep Ahlawat and Amruta Khanvilkar in pivotal roles. It is produced under the banners of Dharma Productions and Junglee Pictures. The story of Raazi revolves around a young Kashmiri girl who gets married to a Pakistani Army officer and becomes a spy to give inside information about the neighbouring country to protect her own.
